About Zilch

Zilch is a zero-based budgeting app that gives every dollar a job before you spend it. Instead of tracking what already happened, you plan your month up front across four simple categories — income, spending, giving, and saving — and Zilch keeps a live tally of planned versus actual so your budget always balances to zero.

You can connect your bank accounts to pull transactions in automatically, split spending into sub-groups, and carry recurring groups into future months. Because take-home pay is rarely what the salary number suggests, Zilch also estimates federal, state, and local taxes from your location, so you budget the money you will actually receive. Photograph a receipt and Zilch reads the line items for you, splitting a single grocery run across the categories it belongs to. A dedicated debt payoff tool shows your monthly payment, total interest, and a month-by-month payoff schedule, and a savings balance view keeps everything you have set aside in one place.

Zilch is built for people who want a plan rather than a pile of numbers: first-time budgeters, families juggling several accounts, freelancers with uneven income, and anyone working to clear debt while still giving and saving on purpose. It works on your phone and your desktop, and your budget stays private to your account.

Zilch is designed and built by a small independent team of developers and longtime budgeters who wanted a zero-based tool that handled taxes and receipts without a spreadsheet. We build it ourselves, ship updates regularly, and read every message that comes through our contact page.
